When Pipes Leak, Michaelis is There
A pipe recently leaked in the unfinished area of my basement and onto the adjacent carpet. I felt what every homeowner feels when they see standing water – immediate panic, magnified by the fact that my house was on the market and I needed to get this fixed immediately.
I knew an acquaintance who worked for a company that handled water damage restoration. At 1:45 p.m., I called Joe Polizzi, who as it turned out, worked for Michaelis Corporation. He called me back within 10 minutes to let me know someone was heading to my house. By 2:30, the Michaelis crew – led by James – arrived and got to work immediately. They began the work of extracting the water from the carpet, removed the padding and tacking strips, placed fans in the area, and did everything necessary to ensure they fixed the existing issue and prevented any future issues that could result from the incident. Within 2 hours, they were finished for the day. Two days later, they completed their work and returned everything in my basement to normal.
The entire Michaelis crew was courteous, competent and professional. They were respectful of me and my property, did what needed to be done without leaving behind any kind of mess, and did it quickly and at a fair price.
What was equally as impressive as the skill and efficiency with which they did the job is all of the things they did NOT do. Women often get treated differently when it comes to anything house or construction related. Sadly, 'nice' mode usually isn't enough to get people to show up and do what they're supposed to do. Not with Michaelis. I felt respected and experienced a high level of customer service every step of the way. I did not have to leave a million messages. I did not have to waste a bunch of time and energy getting transferred from one extension to another, only to be disconnected and have to repeat the same miserable exercise. I did not have to spend hours nor days waiting for someone to show up (or worse, not show up at all). Finally, I did not have to wait forever for them to finish everything.
Michaelis did a remarkable job, from start to finish. I recommend them enthusiastically and would hire them again in a heartbeat.
